My project today continues my strawberry theme. I used a Digi Stamp from Sweet and Sassy and colored it with my Prisma Colored Pencils. I used Echo Park Paper and added a bow, a stickpin, and a little bling.

2/21 It's Mardi Gras Blog Hop

Welcome to our Mardi Gras parade. I must warn you though while you may enjoy jumping up to catch beads, doubloons, cups, stuffed animals--whatever! Please yell at the float riders "Throw me something, Mister!" Bring a large, sturdy plastic or cloth bag to hold all the treasure you'll be catching - if you try to put all of your beads around your neck, you'll have a hard time standing up straight! Be prepared: some people get so overcome with excitement they will occasionally jump in front of you to grab what a rider has thrown to you. Don't get into a tug-o-war....there are many more floats on the way! If you're from far away, some visitors hold up a sign saying where they are from.. our local riders love to see people from far away have a good time and will throw to them to make sure they do!

The colors of Mardi Gras are: Purple which reprsents justice; Green which represents faith; and Gold which represents power.Mardi Gras is always held the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday. Mardi Gras is music, parades, picnics, floats, excitement ... and one big holiday in New Orleans! Everyone is wearing purple, green, and gold; and adorned with long beads caught from the beautiful floats. They sit on the ground throwing balls, playing music, having a picnic, and watching the crowds walk by between parades.

Miracle Blog Hop

Many of us could share a miracle that we have witnessed in our lifetime. I have been blessed to have seen two miracles unfold over the last ten years in the same family. In November of 2001 we met a wonderful family through Church. Michael and Terri, Terri's parents Jimmy and Sue, and Michael's parents, Larry and Nila. Larry was battling a condition we had never heard of called Amyloidosis. It is a very dibilitating disease. Larry was on dialysis for several years and in desperate need of a kidney transplant. While going through the process to qualify for a transplant, it was discovered that Larry had cancer in his kidneys. In order to qualify for the transplant Larry had to have the cancer removed which meant living without a kidney, depending fully on dialysis, and remaining cancer free for a year. Larry made it through all of that. As many of you know, there still is the issue of a donor. There was a young man in our Church named Wesley who told Larry he would donate one of his kidneys. In a miracle that only God could provide Wesley was a match. Larry is about three years past his transplant at this time, and although there are always obstacles, he continues to persevere.

Now for the other miracle, Terri's mom Sue has suffered with heart issues over the years. Sue had a heart valve replacement about 25 years ago. Sue's condition worsened to the point over the last year that it was determined a heart transplant was the only solution. In 2011 Sue was placed on the transplant list at local research hospital. Then on a September Sunday in 2011, we had just arrived at Church when Sue got a call from hospital. There was a donor heart, and several potential recipients had been called to come to hospital. Doctors would determine the best choice of the recipients. Sue received a new heart that day and made a miraculous recovery. Terri, their son Ben, and Terri's father Jimmy sang a special song in church today that they had originally planned to sing that day in September. Through this one family we have been blessed to see the miracles that God provides in our lives.

I created a special card to commemorate the miracles in this family.

1 (18.25) package plain yellow cake mix

1/2 cup butter, melted
1 cup creamy peanut butter
2 eggs
1 (12 oz) package semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
2 Tablespoons butter
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 cup coconut (optional...my sister did not like the texture of it in there)

Directions:
1) Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
2) Combine cake mix, melted butter, peanut butter, and eggs in a large bowl using a mixer or spoon. Press this into a 9X13 pan reserving 1 1/2 cup of the mixture to crumble on top.
3) In a small pot, melt chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, and butter. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla and coconut.
4) Spread chocolate mixture over the mixture pressed in the pan and then crumble the 1 1/2 cups of reserved cake mixture on top evenly.
5) Bake for 20-25 minutes. Cool completely before cutting into bars.

This month (months) Gill let us have 2 months.Which was truly a blessing with the holidays.My page this month is about Family.Gill's challenge was to use punches---and I have a heart punch on my layout.I have two grown sons and not alot of "blood relatives" as we say here in the south.I have gotten to know so many wonderful girls,ladies,etc.thru this wonderful papercrafting internet---this is one of my adopted families.No names or locations of course for their privacy---but I can tell you I love them as I love many I may not ever meet in person but have grown to know thru our papercrafting groups.Not this family but one I have got to meet and we all need people we can love and care about whether they are our biological family or our "adopted" family.This family has truly blessed me and I thank God everyday for allowing me to "know" them.

My project today is a scapbook page about the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster. I remember it so vividly. I was in the hospital with Toxemia and Preeclampsia expecting our son William. What a shock to watch the events that day unfold live on TV. Those losing their life that day were Christa McAuliffe (Teacher in Space), Dick Scobee (Commander), Mike Smith (Pilot), Ron McNair (Mission Specialist), Judy Resnik (Mission Specialist), Ellison Onizuka (Mission Specialist), and Gregory Jarvis (Payload Specialist).

For my project I made a set of three tags with heat embossed snow flakes and some I had left from Christmas. I distressed around the edges with tumbled glass. I held it together with a blue ring with silver riboon tied on it. Make sure you come back tomarrow-- I will have a new project.

I can't believe it's here but it is---a brand new year----and with brand new resolutions.My #1 resoultion is to be healthier.#2----Be EARLY with my posts for my blog hops and mail my swaps out early.I hope each one of you have a great New Year's Day!!!!!I started 2012 off right yesterday---Tanya Scrappy Scavenger and I had a mini crop and we had so much fun and we got a lot done.I know God will bless each and everyone of you this new year.These are two pictures I made for two of the babies in my Sunday School Class.

My project for today is a shadow box that I made and my inpsiration for it was the Christmas Card Scrappy Scavenger sent me with the PINK tree on it.I also used alot of Cassies Craftspot glimmer spray, and one of Cassie's beautiful roses,an old bottle brush tree I sprayed pink and silver and lots of stars and tulle.Oh,and lots and lots and lots of glitter.I may not ever get all the glitter up from the floor.

My project for today is a card that is a little different.Cassies Craftspot had an Inchie Swap and I love everyone I got.Several of them were black and white and a little color.So I used red and black cardstock mats and then put the inchies on with foam tape.I used the sentiment I had gotten from The Cutting Cafe and tied it with a bow with black burlap ribbon from the Funkie Junkie.Finally I added red stickle (a few got smeared).So that's my project for today and I can't believe tommarrow will be the last one.I have something extra special for tomarrow so please try to stop back by.

My project for today is a Graphic 45 Christmas scene that I modpodged to a leftover ceramic tile.I added a corrugated heart sprayed with Cassie's Craftspot spray (Cranberry I think),two stars I punched out and then poured several colors of mixed up gold,rust and white glitter.Then, the beautiful filigree snowflakes and the gold ribbon came from Funkie Junkie.Oh, and the key tied to the bow came from there too.And you know I love my stickpins and it is one I made.I have a small gold twisted wire easel I am going to put it in.

For the hop today, I've created for my project---as you can see in the picture are the lights. I saw on it Pinterest and I can't find it now to give them credit. I used regular clear lights and lightly spray painted them pink. Then I used light pink sparkly pink tulle and cut about a 4 inch square and tied about 5 between each light. It was very labor intensive but it is so pretty. After Christmas I am going to give them to my friend with a precious little girl who will be getting a "big girl room." Thanks so much for coming by. My project for today cute birthday hats that I made for the "Happy Birthday Jesus" theme.I used the Happy Birthday Jesus Banner and these hats and we had a small birthday to honor his Birth.I made the hats out of red cardstock (found the pattern on You Tube)and stamped HappyBirthday in white.I glued a white pompom on top and then used some of the new Martha Stewart glitttery texture to look like snow.I wanted them to be cute but not disrespectful of our Savior.

My project today is a mini album .I have used this style before but never for a Christmas one.Just use a 4 x 12 piece of sturdy cardstock.Score it at every 3 inches and then just decorate the front and back.The first image shows how it is presented-tied with a bow and the other pics are just showing the different panels.I really hope you like it.Sorry this post is late but hubby got some nasty bug late yesterday afternoon and it delayed my time being on the computer.I was being a nurse----lol.

I think it's seven swans a swimming---but here in Alabama it is COLD and there are no swimming swans.You should have gotten here fromMonica www.simplycricutting.blogspot.com .If you need to start at the beginning go to www.bellascrapbookdesigns.blogspot.com .For todays project I helped the children in our class at Church on Wednesday night make cards for the people in our Church.I used regular white cardstock cut in half and I cut out trees with the cricut and some mittens and snowflakes.I tried to keep it simple---but they ALL did their very best work.I know the people at Church will be glad to get a handmade card from the children.My photo is one of the sweetest little girls (she taught me how to change my tape in my ATG ---lol ).They made almost 100 cards tonight and they were so pleased with themselves.They are all so dear and lovable.

Happy 236th Birthday Marines! As we celebrate the 236th birthday of the United States Marine Corps, we also remember all men and women who have chosen to serve our country so we can be free. My father (who passed away 28 years ago) served in the Marine's from 1951 thru----I really don't know. He was stationed at Camp Pendleton in California and scheduled to go to Korea during that war but broke his leg and spent his entire time in the Marine's performing office duty. But he was a Marine and very proud of it. Each day I will have a layout with different pictures that I have of the life in the Marines and at Camp Pendleton during the early 1950's. If some of the pictures are too small I will make a separate picture. I hope you enjoy this little trip back in time concerning the Marines. Now for my project.I love this sentiment from Charles Dickens and it was on a Unity Stamp with the leaves and I used paper from KandCO "Life is a Journey" stack.I used brown sheer ribon and a stick pin I made while practicing for a swap.

Today's project was to be something we were thankful for.My family and I are blessed but I have been especially blessed by this blogging facebook world of crafters.I have learned so much from so many people and so many sources.But more importantly I have "met" so many new friends.Most I will never meet in person but I know as a group of men,women and children bonded together by our love of all things crafty we are there for each other.I thank each and everyone of you and I thank Tanya especially today for being so wonderful and investing in some of us that aren't "true artist".But we still create and we still love to share.Have a blessed weekend.

This is a special post for me. My husband and I have been very active in animal rescue for the last 25 years. I love this card because of the cat character. We rescued three cats orphaned by their mother 3 years ago. They still are with us, and have three very unique personalities and three very unique names. (Duck, Riley, and Miracle)

The card is a digistamp from Pink Cat Studios.
